There are an amazing number of wonderful places (and ways) to dine in St Barth’s. Reservations are essential during the holidays but are appreciated by the restaurant owners year round. St Barth’s is famous for its sophisticated yet casual restaurant scene. Some call it the culinary capital of the Caribbean. Whatever experience you want, trust us, you can find it in St Barts. From four star Relais & Cateau rated dining at Le Gaiac, The Rock, and Victoria’s, to harborside bistros and cafes like Boucanniers, Baz Bar and the Wall House, to feet in the sand casual dining at La Plage and Do Brazil. Did we mention that St Barts has over 80 restaurants? See our featured restaurants and the full St Barts restaurant list.
Shopping and Eating
Most people who vacation in St Barts stay in private villas. Why not take advantage of those airy and open villa kitchens by shopping locally and eating in! St Barts has several well stocked grocery stores including Match across from the airport and L’Oasis near L’Orient, and a number of boulangeries, patisseries, rotisseries and other gourmet food stores like le Petite Columbe in Columbier and La Rotisserie in St Jean.
Thinking of drinking? Not to worry, St Barts has a dozen wine and spirits shops selling a wide range of fine wines, liquers and the local favorite rhum vanilla, visit “absolutely Wine” in Toiny, “Le Cellier du Gouveneur” in Gustavia or “La Cave du Port Franc”.
Private Chefs
One of life’s guilty pleasures is having a private chef come in to your villa to prepare a pool side meal under the stars for you and your friends. St Barts is home to a host of skilled and friendly private chefs. We can personally recommend Licorice & Saffron, Fabulous Feasts and Cordon Bleu for starters. They come to the villa one-hour before dinner, set-up, and lay out a spectacular evening for you. Your relaxed, can choose your own music, and there are no worries about driving home afterwords! Most private chefs are also happy to come to your villa and arrange a 2-4 hour cooking class for you and your guests. See featured private chefs.
Catering
St Barts also has its fair share of catering companies. For big events you can rely on the list of private chefs above, or consider catering companies like Mayas to Go, L’Oasis, Fabulous Feast or ASB
